Dell Streak hits the street

Dell has launched its Android-based pocket tablet Streak in India, in association with Qualcomm and Tata Docomo. Streak is positioned between a smartphone and a tablet with a 5-inch touch screen and thickness less than 10mm and is targeted at students, mobile professionals, and active families.

“Dell Streak hits the sweet spot between traditional smartphones and larger-screen tablets. People today want to carry their lives with them–they want to discover, capture and share content in real time. The smartphone facility distinguishes Streak from other tablets as well as its multitasking capabilities and unique size which provide people new ways to enjoy, connect, and navigate their lives,” said Mahesh Bhalla, Executive Director and General Manager, Consumer, Dell India.

The smart tablet runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon mobile processor QSD8250 with 1GHz speed, has built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. It is HSUPA-ready supporting 7.2 Mbps downlink and 5.76Mbps uplink speeds and offers expandable memory of up to 32GB.

It also sports a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with dual LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera for videoconferencing.

Priced at `34,990, Streak is available for pre-booking at Dell exclusive stores, Tata Docomo exclusive outlets and authorized retailers. Tata Docomo is also offering a data plan with Streak where subscribers get 500MB of data usage free per month for first six months on postpaid connections.
